Using essential oils aromatically is an extremely convenient and simple way to experience the uplifting, relaxing and purifying nature of these oils. They are extremely powerful in promoting the calm and stable environment, purifying the air, managing mood and emotions, and much more.
We get the benefit from the natural properties of the oils by way of breathing in the aroma.
This is typically achieved by diffusing or inhaling essential oils directly. This is because essential oils have the ability to disperse through the air quickly, thus allowing you to experience the distinct, potent and pleasant aroma of an essential oil even from the very moment that a bottle is opened and the fragrance passes through your nose.
Here are 11 easy and effective ways to use essential oils aromatically:
Superb Smelling Laundry – Add 15 to 20 drops of your preferred essential oil (lavender and lemon are great) into each load for fresh smelling laundry.
Get Rid Of The Stench In Your Trash – Place 4 drops of lemon essential oil and 5 drops of tea tree oil onto a cotton ball. Place the cotton ball at the bottom of the trashcan to help eliminate odors and detoxify.
Neutralize Pet Odor – Use 10 to 20 drops of lavender, or lemon oil with apple cider vinegar (it’s easily available online; you can check your local supermarket too). Shake well and spray around the room that you wish to eliminate pet odor.
Remove Cigarette Smoke Odor – Place four drops each of rosemary essential oil, tea tree oil, and eucalyptus essential oil to a spray bottle filled with water and spray around the house.
Reduce Anxiety – Diffusing lavender essential oil around your house can help to combat feelings of stress and tension. You can also pour a few drops on a tissue and place it in your purse or pocket when going outdoors. Just pull out and inhale to calm yourself. Or just carry your lavender oil bottle everywhere you go – must-have item in your bag!
Open Airways – Inhale the vapor of lavender and eucalyptus oils mixed with hot water to open the airways when you have congestion, a cold, or flu to breathe better. A lot of people only use eucalyptus dropped in hot water, but blending both can be soothing as well as more effective!
Curb Your Cravings – Put 2-3 drops of peppermint oil on a tissue and inhale mid-morning or mid-afternoon to slow desire for snacking and help feel full faster.
Insomnia – Diffuse chamomile, lavender oil in your bedroom, add a few drops to a hot pre-sleep bath, or place a few drops on your pillow.
Smell good naturally – Place 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil behind your ears or on your wrists for a fabulous, natural perfume.
Freshen up surfaces – Add several drops of Lemon oil to water in a spray bottle or small bucket to clean and freshen floors, countertops, and other surfaces naturally.
Get rid of insects – Put 3-5 drops of lavender oil on a cotton ball. Place it in your closet to get rid of moths and other insects. You’ll love the feeling of opening your closet every day!
